I just picked up a pair of THUNDERBLAST missile launchers on clearance at Kmart. I've wanted this missile-only blaster to compare to the DEMOLISHER for a long time, but the $24.99 list price always seemed a little high to me. Kmart had them for $10.60, so I grabbed a couple. I have heard from sources (not NERF officially) the THUNDERBLAST is being discontinued, so if you've been thinking of getting one, now might be the time to grab it.
If you're unfamiliar with the THUNDERBLAST, it was released in in fall of 2015 under the N-Strike series. It comes packaged with two o the same type of missiles as the DEMOLISHER 2-In-1, which will store in the integrated shoulder stock.
It has one tactical rail on top of the barrel and three sling points, one at the front of the blaster, and two in the stock.
The stock is non-detachable which is too bad because it's solid and it's designed to be fired from the shoulder or on the shoulder (bazooka style). Range claims on the box state 60 feet (18m), and although it may not have quite hit that mark, it is definitely more powerful than the DEMOLISHER 2-in-1's missile launcher. Comparing the two launchers side by side it seems the THUNDERBLAST may have a slightly longer "draw" and over all plunger length.
So I put the THUNDERBLAST up against the Buzz Bee BLASTZOOKA. It had been a while since I had the BLASTZOOKA out, and I forgot just how much power that pressurized air tank blaster puts out... not just range, but greater fps still makes the BLASTZOOKA king of the missile launchers.
Still, the THUNDERBLAST has it's merits... It's style and construction are first rate, and it is superior in ROF. If the power could be improved, or an air tank incorporated? I'll look into that prospect, but either way I'm glad to add this blaster to my N-STRIKE ELITE collection, and the third of my missile launchers.
Check here Kmart to see if $10.60 THUNDERBLASTs are available near you, and...
