THUNDERBLAST AT LAST

NERF N-STRIKE THUNDERBLAST MISSILE LAUNCHER

I just picked up a pair of THUNDERBLAST missile launchers on clearance at Kmart. I've wanted this missile-only blaster to compare to the DEMOLISHER for a long time, but the $24.99 list price always seemed a little high to me. Kmart had them for $10.60, so I grabbed a couple. I have heard from sources (not  NERF officially) the THUNDERBLAST is being discontinued, so if you've been thinking of getting one, now might be the time to grab it.

If you're unfamiliar with the THUNDERBLAST, it was released in in fall of 2015 under the N-Strike series. It comes packaged with two o the same type of missiles as the DEMOLISHER 2-In-1, which will store in the integrated shoulder stock.
It has one tactical rail on top of the barrel and three sling points, one at the front of the blaster, and two in the stock.

The stock is non-detachable which is too bad because it's solid and it's designed to be fired from the shoulder or on the shoulder (bazooka style).
Range claims on the box state 60 feet (18m), and although it may not have quite hit that mark, it is definitely more powerful than the DEMOLISHER 2-in-1's missile launcher. Comparing the two launchers side by side it seems the THUNDERBLAST may have a slightly longer "draw" and over all plunger length.

So I put the THUNDERBLAST up against the Buzz Bee BLASTZOOKA. It had been a while since I had the BLASTZOOKA out, and I forgot just how much power that pressurized air tank blaster puts out... not just range, but greater fps still makes the BLASTZOOKA king of the missile launchers.

Still, the THUNDERBLAST has it's merits... It's style and construction are first rate, and it is superior in ROF. If the power could be improved, or an air tank incorporated? I'll look into that prospect, but either way I'm glad to add this blaster to my N-STRIKE ELITE collection, and the third of my missile launchers.

Check here Kmart to see if $10.60 THUNDERBLASTs are available near you, and...

2017 Fall Exclusives!

With the official release date of the Fall NERF line fast approaching, I thought I would focus on two exclusive blasters that I'm sure will be in high demand... a new RIVAL and the return of a classic.

I'll start with the NERF RIVAL PHANTOM CORPS HERA MXVII-1200. I mentioned this blaster in May in my PHANTOM CORPS post. I had speculated the HERA might just be a ZEUS reshell but it's a whole new RIVAL flywheel blaster. A little more pistol like than the ZEUS, the HERA loads a magazine into the handle much like the APOLLO.The fly wheels are side by side instead of the over-under configuration, so the HERA has a wider profile than the ZEUS or APOLLO.
The HERA , like the rest of the Phantom Corps line, will be a TARGET exclusive and it is now said that it will sell for $60. Whether or not it will be produced in red and blue, and sold in other stores is  unknown?

Moving on...News has been leaked that a new repaint version of the 2013 Elite RAYVEN CS-18 will be available as a Kohl's exclusive in the US, presumably this fall. This news comes to us via Nerfer and Youtuber Hartley Ju. Some of you may recall when Hartley got his hands on a TWINSHOCK (another Fall release) back at the beginning of the year.
The blaster will be renamed the RAYVENFIRE and feature the newer Elite blue on white style color scheme. It will come with one 10 dart clip/mag that is white on one side and clear on the other, and 25 regular elite darts. Other than that it appears the RAYVENFIRE is the same as the Elite RAYVEN CS-18. The RAYVEN has remained so popular with fans and been in such high demand that this exclusive re-release is sure to be a hot seller. Kohl's isn't known for their low prices on NERF products and when a RECON MK II is $49.99... Let's just say that I have a feeling the RAYVENFIRE isn't going to be cheap.

Of course there will be plenty to choose from when the full Fall line hits shelves in a couple of weeks. Some products like the NEMESIS, REGULATOR and others are already out. It's probably not too early to think about what to ask Santa for Christmas?

So remember to be nice and...
