My Review and Comparison of NFSTRIKE'S Whirlwind Head Mega Dart

It's been said, "Don't apologize for not posting on your blog because no one really cares." So with that in mind I'll just say that I've been gone for a while due to some health issues and I'm just glad to be back.

Now... a few weeks ago (more like months now) my friends over at NFSTRIKE sent me some of their Whirlwind Head Soft Bullet for Nerf Mega Blaster Toy. That is the official name on the website for what most NERFers might simply call an ACCU-MEGA dart. I've even heard people call them ACCU-FAKE... (I call them "Whirlwind-MEGAS") ... however big corporations have a funny habit of copy-writing everything, and I'm sure Hasbro owns "MEGA Dart". Well, I'm going to review this off-brand/third party/after market/ whatever you want to call it dart, as well as compare it with the official NERF N-Strike Elite Mega Dart.

NERFARIUM MMXVIII -A REGULATOR Review

Greetings NERFerS,
I hope everybody had a great holiday season and is off to a fantastic 2018! Did you get any new NERF? It's also cold and flu season, and despite a bronchial infection I picked up, I did have a great Christmas and received some awesome new blasters as gifts! So let's start the year with a look at one of those.
First is the Modulus REGULATOR. I tried this blaster at Toys R Us during NERF FEST. I instantly wanted this select fire flywheel blaster but wasn't willing to shell-out the $60+ that they wanted for it that day. It should be noted that since it's release, back in August, the REGULATOR has dropped in price by about 10 bucks or so at most retailers.

The Regulator is an ECS (electronic clip system) blaster. It's unique feature is a selector switch which allows the user to choose one of three firing modes: the standard single-fire mode, a "burst mode" that fires three darts one after the other, and a standard fully-automatic mode. The switch is ambidextrous, located on both sides of the blaster , just in front of the trigger.

The REGULATOR requires four "C" batteries to operate. It functions using a conveyor system similar to the one used in the HYPERFIRE. It fires a dart like most flywheel blasters, by first holding down the acceleration (rev) trigger then pulling the firing trigger to fire a dart(s). It also has an LED light, that flashes when the loaded clip is empty.

It comes packaged with a storage stock, a long barrel extension and a short barrel extension (both of which can also be used as scopes), a swivel handle, two twelve dart clips, and twenty-four white Elite/Modulus darts. There are two tactical rails, one on the top, and the other under the muzzle. It also features four sling mounts: one on the front-most barrel extension, one built into both of the core blaster's iron sights, and one in the bottom of the shoulder stock.

To reload the Regulator, press the clip release button (similar to the HYPERFIRE) to remove empty clip and replace clip. It advertises firing ranges of up to 90 feet (27 meters). I found that about 50 to 60 feet was the best mine would hit, even less in full-auto mode.
Although stock performance might be a bit disappointing by Elite blaster standards, I think the REGULATOR has qualities that make it worth while. The multitude of ways to configure this blaster with the included accessories or other MODULUS accessories makes it aesthetically pleasing. The select fire feature is also quite FUN-ctional, if nothing else.
