MODULUS Storage Stock and Storage Shield

Two new Modulus accessories that are coming out for 2017 have been spotted. They are the MODULUS Storage Stock and the MODULUS Storage Shield.  Although they're not out in stores just yet I thought I'd show you what we're going to get and what we might expect...

First is the Storage Stock-
According to the product description it is an extendable stock with a flip open stock butt to reveal storage for extra darts. That's about it, not even any extra darts to  put in it. I don't have a MSRP for it but I'd guess it will retail for around $10, like the MODULUS Blaster Stock.

Next is the Storage Shield-

This new accessory easily attaches to Nerf Modulus blasters. The shield opens to create a 3-point shield and stores up to 24 Elite darts and 6 Mega darts in the shield. I've seen this product listed on Amazon for $21 but I'm sure it will retail at most stores for less.

So there you have 'em! Even more accessories for you to help you customize your  MODULUS system in over 1000 ways... or not. What will those madmen at NERF come up with next?
I want to give a shout-out to a  REDDIT Nerfer by the name of spOOkymemes for the heads up on this one.

MEGA BLASTERS!

...or 7's Mega Super Fun Time Holiday!

I've avoided the NERF Elite MEGA series every since it first launched back in 2013. With the initial bad reviews of the CENTURION and the prospect of collecting yet another series with new ammo none the less, I focused on other blasters... but this last holiday season and the shopping bargains that came along with it have changed all that. It was magical...!

NERF RIVAL ARTEMIS XVII 3000

New Rival blaster spotted today!

Huge news today in the NERF world! A brand new RIVAL blaster called the ARTEMIS was spotted online available for pre-order. The company advertising this is a place called ACDdistribution, out of Middleton WI. and here is what we know;
The Artemis XVII-3000 blaster has 4 rotating barrels. A spring-action cocking, Slam-fire mechanism and fires at a velocity up to 100 fps. It holds 30 rounds in an "easy loading" internal magazine. The blaster also has a trigger lock, features one tactical rail on top and comes with 30 rounds. The list price is $44.99.
A little earlier this evening I saw a picture of this blaster and immediately began tracking the source...It seems that as a community of NERFerS general consensus is that original credit for this breaking story is due to UK Nerf and Marcus...Thanks fellas and...

NERF'N IN NOVEMBER- NEW BLASTERS AND NEWS

November already... I thought I should try to get a new post up before Christmas got here. I don't know where time has been going lately and I noticed that I only got one post up again last month. At least I managed to post it twice (I'll fix that). My last post was about the up-coming ACCUSTRIKE blasters, so lets start by taking a peek at a few more blasters that we'll be getting in 2017 and some other Nerf news too!

NERF ACCUSTRIKE SERIES!

Official News is Out!

We all heard the rumors about the new series that was coming in 2017 and saw the leaked photo of the ALPHAHAWK... well now it's official! It seems Hasbro has released information about 2 of the blasters from the new upcoming NERF N-STRIKE ELITE ACCUSTRIKE series.
First, of course there's the ALPHAHAWK. It's a 5 shot rotating cylinder, bolt primed springer, with a fixed shoulder stock and integrated front sight. The blaster will come with 10 ACCUSTRIKE darts and is expected to go for about $30 (US).

The second blaster is the FALCONFIRE. It's a top loaded, single shot springer pistol. It will come with 6 of the new ACCUSTRIKE darts which are designed for greater precision and accuracy. The FALCONFIRE should retail for about 15 US dollars. Both blasters are recommended for ages 8+ and are expected to be available in Spring 2017.
I'm sure that between now and then we'll get a lot more info and maybe see more blasters too. I'm very curious about ranges and velocities since the idea behind this new series is to concentrate on a more accurate dart blaster by shooting a corkscrew tipped dart down a rifled barrel.

How well will this newest innovation work?

Unknown PART 1

Not exactly sure what I'm doing... or why?

This was a project I started back in August. The idea was to take what was left of this old Buzz Bee Tek -20 and see if I could use it as the base of some sort of new mod using only stuff I could find laying around the house. Keep in mind I like to tinker and I have a lot of junk for parts... but the idea is to do it without buying anything.

ZURU READY TO SWASHBUCKLE!

PIRATE RENEGADES-

The X shot Cutlass...

Un-open X shot sword.

At least that's the one I picked up tonight when I found these new foam swords put out by ZURU Toys, and sold under non other than X shot brand. Of course everybody knows the not so successful NERF N-FORCE series of swords and other foam melee weapons. Buzz Bee toys has also been making foam bladed fun for a while and lately has come out with some new designs that are pretty cool and very affordable.
Well I guess ZURU thought they'd try their hand at the forge... I have got to say, I like what they came up with. They have come up with a series of 3 new swords, a pirate sword, a ninja sword, and a medieval knight sword. The unique thing about these play melee weapons are the handles.

.
...other 2 swords.
Close up of packaging.

The handles are molded from hard plastic just like a blaster and it is actually a two piece shell screwed together, just like a blaster. When your holding the thing it has that same blaster feel to it instead of having a hand full of squeezy foam. The size is good as in big enough and I found them comfortable and pleasing.

2 halves of handle are secured by 8 screws.

As for the price... 4 bucks. I realize that for some of the hardcore Nerf warriors there really is no need for such an accessory, but for those NERFerS, cosplayers, and kids of all ages who like to play sword-fight... you've got to check these out!

Un-boxed- It's a nice shape and size.

I personally do happen to enjoy NERF swords of all kinds. If you're a regular reader then you know that I have a little collection of melee weapons in my armory. So now I have a cutlass! If you're wondering why I bought the cutlass, the reasons are this: They had very few left in stock. They had even less that weren't beat-up and broken. Last but perhaps most importantly it's the right color scheme, the majority of my melee collection happens to be the same.

Some of my other melee weapons.

Hot August Nerf

I can't believe it's the last week of August already.  The nights have been hot and the nerfing action has been kind of slow. I've seen most of the new blasters on store shelves now and the prices are even starting to come down a little on popular items like the HYPERFIRE. Unfortunately right now  just isn't a good time for me to be buying up a bunch of new NERF gear. It's a mixed blessing because there is so much new stuff, yet a lot of it is disappointing and none of it is inexpensive.
We're all used to paying top dollar for genuine NERF quality blasters... but I remember paying $18.98 for my original RECON CS-6, about the same for my ALPHA TROOPER CS-18, and then shelling out the big money too... $30 for the LONGSHOT and later another $30 for a RAIDER CS-35. Then there was the VULCAN followed by the legendary (and highest priced blaster ever at the time)  STAMPED at 45 and 50 dollars each.
This year the average price for a blaster seems to be about$30 this includes the DOUBLE DEALER, BRAINSAW, LAWBRINGER, and DESOLATOR for examples. There is nothing really exceptional about any of these new models and a few of them are unfortunately rather disappointing. Then there are the "Big Guns". We have the Mega MASTADON at $80, last years RHINOFIRE still at about $100, and maybe the most popular of them all... the HYPERFIRE can now be found for just under $50.
These pretty guns are gonna' cost you a pretty penny!

It sure would be nice to win some shopping spree contest or even better yet, Hasbro could send me some products to review!  Well until then I will keep saving up for that next big new NERF purchase, and before you know it Christmas will be here too...
This doesn't mean that I've had to go altogether cold turkey on blasters, I found a couple of things to satisfy my NERFurge for now but they aren't exactly NERF.

The first New blaster I've added to the arsenal is this  Ultra-Tek SENTINEL from Buzz Bee toys.
Wallymart was clearing these out for 5 dollars so I grabbed one and was not disappointed. This SLINGFIRE look-a-like is almost the same size as the original NERF lever action and is (YAY) compatible with NERF dips and chips. It has a metal handle which can be a little rough on the fingers but I think it needs it because the spring tension is substantial and this blaster does out range the SLINGFIRE right out of the box. This blaster is a good candidate for several upgrade mods.
Buzz Bee SENTINEL- will use NERF clips and elite darts, cost $5.

Another really affordable and VERY decent blaster was this Buzz Bee Air Max BARON. I picked it up for less than half of what a NERF BIGSHOCK was going for and I think it's at least as good if not a better blaster.
Buzz Bee BARON- Comparable to a BIGSHOCK but fires 2 darts sequentially, cost $3.
Another little side project I started last weekend as kind of a "chatroom" topic on Google+ The idea was to take this old broken TEK-20 and try to bring it back to life using only parts I could find laying around the house/shop/garage... Well the only interest in this project was one NERFER who suggested that I paint it. I will paint, I swear I will!!!
In fact I've become a little obsessive about this little beat-up, hacked-up blaster. I've found some old parts and junk, and I've come up with a few idea's of my own... I've been working pretty hard on this thing since then.
Broken and battered... what will become of this old blaster?

So I guess that will be my closing teaser... next post I'll have an update as to the progress of this Mod.
Also thanks for the 20 thousand page views, I appreciate it very much! I'm going to try and post a little more often and stop goofing around on that NERF community so much.
Oh! Don't forget to check out the NERF or NOTHING!-Community for more NERF in your life!

Hey look, it's a new post!

Since I haven't posted anything in over a month let's just get Nerfy... First thing is my STRYFE mod. It's been a while since I've actually done a good mod. So I took a little time to do this STRYFE that I picked up last Christmas for $10.
I just removed the mechanical and electrical locks and also the thermistor and painted it...
It was like it was made to mod... no wonder this blaster has been re-shelled so many times.

...a little bit of painting
I finished up with this!

As I said all the locks are removed and now it runs on either stock batteries or higher voltage without overheating. I painted the proximity barrel to match but  all the original yellow N-Strike accessories match as well . I'm not too much into modding my blasters but every now and then I like to do something. I think perhaps Google+ may have had something to do with it too. These days you can find me spending far to much time hanging out in the NERF or NOTHING! community. I never thought I'd get involved with social media and now as fate would have it, not only do I have my blog but a Google + community as well. What's next... a YouTube channel?

That's not all!
I'd like to be telling you I have a new HYPERFIRE, but alas... I did get a N-Strike GLOWSHOT.For about $6 the GLOWSHOT is lots of fun. It's a single shot, front loader that compares in performance to a SNAPFIRE, TRIAD, or JOLT. What makes this little NERF pistol special is when you put 2 AA batteries in it lights up!

The translucent body of the blaster is illuminated from within by two L.E.D. lights. The lights are activated by a pressure switch/trigger that runs along the top half of the back of the grip. It's a great little indoor blaster particularly at night.

Finally I have a new pegboard display to show you. I've been wanting to do this for a while and it not only turned out well and got some blasters put away but inspired the reorganization of some other blasters too.

My new pegboard wall.
I'm hoping to post more as I get a few of the new blasters hitting the shelves. Just wanted to confirm that this blog hadn't gone inactive and to thank my dedicated readers and everyone else for the pageviews...

Nerf N-STRIKE Elite TERRASCOUT

Does anybody remember the TERRADRONE? It was a great idea... a remote controlled NERF robot. Sadly the TERRADRONE was a little disappointing being small, overpriced, and under powered. Well now Hasbro is having another go at it announcing the release of the all new TERRASCOUT coming later this fall.
NERF N-STRIKE Elite TERRASCOUT
So what we basically have here is a small NERF tank controlled via wireless remote but this time we get live video feed thanks to the 720P HD onboard camera and footage can be recorded on a SD card (not included). The main TERRASCOUT "tank" itself is powered by a rechargeable NiMh battery and the controller requires 4 AA batteries (also not included). It is said that the track drive system can handle almost any terrain as long as it is not wet... we'll just have to wait and see how well?
TERRASCOUT controller
The blaster portion of the TERRASCOUT is very reminiscent of the RAPIDSTRIKE and like the RAPIDSTRIKE comes with an 18 dart clip. It appears that the mag well is located on the left side of the blaster and will work with most N-STRIKE clips/mags. Darts can be fired one at a time by a single push of the remote trigger or they can be fired in rapid succession by pressing and holding the trigger. The turret rotates and elevates independently so you can fire in one direction while driving in another.
Blaster section of TERRASCOUT

Now for the bad news... the price! It seems this year NERF/Hasbro is not holding back with those hefty price tags and the TERRASCOUT is right at the top of the charts with a $200 average retail price, and I thought $100 for a RHINOFIRE was a lot!!! I thought that $60 was too much for a robotic, Nerf dart shooting, spider, so I passed on the TERRADRONE...
NERF Combat Creatures TERRADRONE
...but maybe this new TERRASCOUT will be better? Maybe some of us lucky son-of-a-NERFerS will be able to find it on sale? Maybe It just looks a lot better than it is, but right now it's looking pretty good. Time will tell if it's 2 Ben Franklins worth... Stay tuned, I'll be watching this one hard and try to keep you informed of the latest details.

Here's one more look at the TERRASCOUT- Thanks to Foam From Above, Gizmodo, and Hasbro, for images and info.

Elite HYPERFIRE is Out!

One of the most anticipated new NERF blasters coming out this year is the ELITE HYPERFIRE. I posted a preview of it back in January as did most every other source of NERF news. Since then we have seen several YouTube videos from the 2016 Toy Fair demonstrating just how awesome this new full-auto successor to the RAPIDSTRIKE is going to be.

Well it seems that the wait is just about over. The exclusive HYPERFIRE can now be found listed on the Walmart website. It's listed as "out of stock"/ not available, but still it's there and priced at $49.97 You can also get on a list to be notified by email as soon as it is available and I would expect preorders to also soon be available? Here's a link to the page Walmart HYPERFIRE

It would also seem that depending on what part of the planet you are living on the HYPERFIRE is already hitting the shelves at certain Walmart stores... NERFer- REDDIT user- YouTuber, Zombona was one of those who has already got his hands on one and he already did a few mods and posted a YouTube video about it... so here that is too.

I really don't know what else to say at this point... I just want one! I did sign-up for the notification and I'm just anxiously awaiting to hear that the HYPERFIRE is available because I'm ready!
Thanks to Zombona Machine for the video and ...

Nerf Modulus Stealth Ops Upgrade Kit

I'm not a big fan of the MODULUS but the Stealth Ops Upgrade Kit ... that's a whole different story. I picked up one of these kits for $12.99 basically because of the red dot sight. I thought it might be a good sub if you like me were never fortunate enough to get one of the N-Strike or ELITE red dot sights.

The kit comes with a red dot sight, a short barrel extension, and a folding fore grip. The fore grip is small, not very comfortable and it's "wobbly" when you attach it to your blaster. Now the site is great... just what I was hoping it'd be, pretty much a copy of the old red dot sight.
Red dot sight view.

When the MODULUS series was first announced I didn't want a new series, just some new upgrades and accessories for all the N-Strike and ELITE blasters we already had. This Upgrade kit fits the bill! The short "Proximity barrel" extension works well and looks good on just about any blaster that will take a barrel extension.

STRYFE with Stealth Ops Red dot sight and Proximity barrel.

In my opinion this is the best thing to come from the entire MODULUS project. When you think about it it's a re-run and a new barrel. I recommend you pick one up and put it on your favorite NERF primary or custom blaster.

MARCH MELEE

 Sword Play the NERF Way

Here it is late March already and I don't even have one a post up yet this month... I thought that since the newest addition to my NERF collection wasn't a blaster but a machete, this was a good time to talk about a different subject- melee weapons.
This is my new Zombie Strike Machete

NERF melee weapons  have always had mixed reviews among NERFerS. It seems that most hardcore blaster battle fans have no use for such gear. But NERF swords and axes as well as other foam bladed weapons have found  their niche with some fans including HVZ players, cosplayers, costume builders, LARPer's, and others.
I was not originally a fan of the NERF N-FORCE series melee weapons. They were impractical and expensive at a time when the N-SRIKE line was the center of attention. One day after the blaster series had become well established and my own armory was fairly well stocked, I found myself looking at a N-FORCE THUNDERFURY short sword. The yellow NERF sword was on clearance sale  and I thought it might look cool hanging on the wall above my yellow blaster collection...that's when things changed for me.

Center is my first THUNDERFURY sword that started the collection. It's used but well cared for.

STONEWALL
WARLOCK and BATTLEMASTER
Over the past few years I've collected a number of NERF N-FORCE and a few other foam melee weapons.
Group picture.

I made this foam throwing star from  scratch.
While I still would take a good blaster over a melee weapon in a battle, and a lot of my collection has never been out of the box, I have obviously become a fan of these foam edged battle accessories and found many ways to incorporate them into NERF games too..

I've even tried my hand at a little "foamsmithing". Using craft foam and other readily available foam materials to make and mod foam melee weapons
I lengthened and modified the grip of this sword.

Buzz Bee FUN SWORDS are cheap and easy to work with. You can trim them, paint them, ad to them, etc....

I'm working on a "DEADPOOL" inspired NERF project with these.

Currently companies like Buzz Bee Toys, Perpetual Play Group, and a few others are still making foam melee weapons. PPG is now making the Zombie Strike weapons for NERF. But if you're looking for some of the older NERF N-FORCE gear, it's discontinued and getting harder to find.
So if for you whether it's Blasters, Blades, or Both...

NERF or NOTHING! community Contest Rules

-ONLINE COMMUNITY NERF BATTLE GAME-

I'm hoping this contest is relatively simple and fun! It is for the most part a game of chance so all players have an equal opportunity to win.  It will be a last man standing-elimination competition, played until there is a final winner.

Go to NERF or NOTHING! community to enter.

RULES OF ENGAGMENT

1- Players must be community members. Each player starts the contest with 3 "darts".

2- If a player is unsuccessful in completing a mission or "hit" they loose a dart (unless otherwise specified).

3- If a player is "hit" 3 times and looses all their darts they are eliminated from the competition.

4- Players must compete in every round or take an automatic "hit" for that missed mission.

5- Report For Duty Rule: Players may join the game late BUT must report in the missions comment section that they are joining and take a penalty "hit" for each missed mission.

6- Missions must be completed and all choices final by deadlines. You may make changes within that time (unless otherwise specified). Mission results  and new missions will be posted after deadline of previous mission.

7- Go with your gut! "Real life" blaster performance has little or no effect on the outcome of missions or gameplay but be prepared for surprises!

8-  Should any shipping restrictions / laws arise prizes may be substituted. Judges decisions are final.

9- Have Fun!  Good Luck!  Happy Hunting!

                                                        and ... NERF ON NERFerS!!!
