TWINSHOCKED- My MEGA TWINSHOCK Review

Greetings NERFerS, another month has slipped by and again I haven't posted anything new... My apologies. I feel like I've lost my momentum and  I really wasn't sure what to write about? I decided  to just go with my latest blaster purchase.
I've been interested in the NERF MEGA TWINSHOCK since news of  it was first leaked last year, but the regular $39.99 MSRP was a little steep. Well, the other night I picked up a new TWINSHOCK, on sale, for 18 bucks.  What a deal... what a blaster!

I love a big blaster, and this one is big at 28 inches in length. The TWINSHOCK is a 10 MEGA dart, muzzle loaded, pump action shotgun style blaster, similar to the ROUGHCUT. It's got full size grips, two tactical rails, and two sling attachment points.

As usual only the lettering on one side is painted.

This blaster fires 10 MEGA darts either one or two at a time with it's two-step trigger. Pulling the trigger half way fires a single dart, while a full trigger pull fires two darts simultaneously. It will also "Slamfire" by holding the trigger down and continuously priming the blaster via the front pump grip/handle. Max ROF aprx. 4 darts per second. That's about twice the rate of the ROTOFURY since you're firing 2 darts at a time with a similar action.

ROTOFURY and TWINSHOCK together.

The ranges of my TWINSHOCK were impressive. It actually hit the advertised 85 ft/26m  mark, even a little more when using Buzz Bee XL Distance darts.Managed some 100 foot angled shoots with the XL darts, accuracy was better too. Shots averaged about 67 fps*.

(L) Buzz Bee XL Distance Darts - (R) NERF MEGA Darts

The operation is smooth and reliable, and although a large beast- easy to use. I also found this blaster to be exceptionally well built and solid. The TWINSHOCK was on my wish list and overall I'd recommend it especially to MEGA series fans and adult-size NERFerS. I highly recommend that you grab one now while they're available at holiday sale prices, or if you hurry you still have time to ask Santa to bring you one for Christmas.

                                           Seasons Greetings and...

NERF RAYVENFIRE- Return of the RAYVEN

Just like a lot of you, I was very excited to hear about the re-release of the Rayven. This latest 4th incarnation is called the RAYVENFIRE. I bought one from Kohl's who is currently the exclusive US seller.

Good-bye September

new blasters part 1

It's literally the last hour of September and I've realized I haven't posted anything all month. I want to get something new up especially for my dedicated NERFARIUM readers... thanks for bearing with me. It's also the end of summer so I thought maybe I'd recap what's been going on the past few weeks.
Of course these days I post or comment on  NERF or NOTHING! on a daily basis. It has become arguably the best NERF community on Google+ with over 460 members and growing. Unfortunately a lot of the time and energy that I used to devote to NERFARIUM goes there. But that doesn't mean that I'm done blogging, in fact I'm going to try and divide my time a little more evenly between the two. But enough about that...I've picked up a few new blasters lately. They've all been blasters that weren't necessarily high on my "wish list" and regularly a bit pricey, but I found some deals. If you want me to write a detailed review of any of these leave a comment.
Let's start with the Doomlands 2169 blasters. I got both a VAGABOND and a LAWBRINGER.

The VAGABOND came first, I found it in a Kmart marked down to 16 bucks... it's so cool how could I resist? It's a big gun, about 21'' (53cm) long with a larger grip. This pump action, 6 shot revolver has about the same power as a STRONGARM or DISRUPTOR.
It's just so much Bigger & Badder! I liked it enough to start looking a little harder at the Doomlands series. Then I found the LAWBRINGER at Walmart.com for $17 instead of the regular $35.
A 12- shot, hammer-action revolver... It's like a giant HammerShot with a butt stock that holds 12 extra darts. I found it usable with one hand although easier with two, and speaking of extra darts...

I found some of the fancy signature darts online for 6 bucks. The 30 darts was the perfect amount to completely fill both blasters. All said and told I'm pretty pleased with my Doomlands load-out such as it is. I'd like to find a half-priced NEGOTIATOR next.
Well,  I missed my deadline. It's 1 am which means that it's technically October 1st and I didn't get a post up for the month of September. Since I have some more new blasters, I'll post this now and continue with my next post... be ready for that in the next day and until then...

ANOTHER TARGET RUN

I don't get out to TARGET very often, While there are Walmarts everywhere, there is just 1 TARGET and it is a bit of a drive. It's a shame because they have a pretty good NERF department and I've got some great deals there too. So the other day I decided it was time to make the trip to see what was new at my local TARGET.

On the way I saw a lightning strike start a fire on the surrounding foothills near the store...

Although I had just seen the NEMESIS hit shelves at Wallymart, I was blown away by what TARGET had! First was the REGULATOR. At $59.99 each, they've sold a ton of these already...
They had a few still left, but an entire display was virtually stripped. These are going fast!

They also had the MEGA TWINSHOCK for $39.99, and the Zombie-Strike DREADBOLT for $49.99
There were 2 solid aisles of NERF products and the shelves were nicely stocked with all kinds of blasters and gear I'd love to add to my collection.

An ALPHAHAWK for $28.99 and a very tacti-cool Elite Utility Vest for $14.99
4 sets of NERF NITRO to choose from $19.99 to $49.99 plus accessories like extra cars... They had DESOLATORs, the DOOMLANDS STRYFE, $29.99 I want one!

Oh, there was one other stand-alone display with some TARGET exclusive products...
Yep they had the Phantom Corps stuff... and I mean all of it! The APOLLO- $29.99, the HERA-$59.99, the Face Mask-$14.99, Tactical Pouch-$14.99, Tactical Vest-$19.99

As it was they had about $480 worth of new stuff I would have loved to have bought right then and there, but I had to restrain myself.  Although I didn't get a new HERA or REGULATOR I did get a Thermal Zenith and a Phantom Corps Mask.

I came looking for both, and that kept my purchase to under $40 . I will be returning soon to get another blaster, ... so many to choose from, again! I'll post about my new stuff soon, so until then...

THUNDERBLAST AT LAST

NERF N-STRIKE THUNDERBLAST MISSILE LAUNCHER

I just picked up a pair of THUNDERBLAST missile launchers on clearance at Kmart. I've wanted this missile-only blaster to compare to the DEMOLISHER for a long time, but the $24.99 list price always seemed a little high to me. Kmart had them for $10.60, so I grabbed a couple. I have heard from sources (not  NERF officially) the THUNDERBLAST is being discontinued, so if you've been thinking of getting one, now might be the time to grab it.

If you're unfamiliar with the THUNDERBLAST, it was released in in fall of 2015 under the N-Strike series. It comes packaged with two o the same type of missiles as the DEMOLISHER 2-In-1, which will store in the integrated shoulder stock.
It has one tactical rail on top of the barrel and three sling points, one at the front of the blaster, and two in the stock.

The stock is non-detachable which is too bad because it's solid and it's designed to be fired from the shoulder or on the shoulder (bazooka style).
Range claims on the box state 60 feet (18m), and although it may not have quite hit that mark, it is definitely more powerful than the DEMOLISHER 2-in-1's missile launcher. Comparing the two launchers side by side it seems the THUNDERBLAST may have a slightly longer "draw" and over all plunger length.

So I put the THUNDERBLAST up against the Buzz Bee BLASTZOOKA. It had been a while since I had the BLASTZOOKA out, and I forgot just how much power that pressurized air tank blaster puts out... not just range, but greater fps still makes the BLASTZOOKA king of the missile launchers.

Still, the THUNDERBLAST has it's merits... It's style and construction are first rate, and it is superior in ROF. If the power could be improved, or an air tank incorporated? I'll look into that prospect, but either way I'm glad to add this blaster to my N-STRIKE ELITE collection, and the third of my missile launchers.

Check here Kmart to see if $10.60 THUNDERBLASTs are available near you, and...

2017 Fall Exclusives!

With the official release date of the Fall NERF line fast approaching, I thought I would focus on two exclusive blasters that I'm sure will be in high demand... a new RIVAL and the return of a classic.

I'll start with the NERF RIVAL PHANTOM CORPS HERA MXVII-1200. I mentioned this blaster in May in my PHANTOM CORPS post. I had speculated the HERA might just be a ZEUS reshell but it's a whole new RIVAL flywheel blaster. A little more pistol like than the ZEUS, the HERA loads a magazine into the handle much like the APOLLO.The fly wheels are side by side instead of the over-under configuration, so the HERA has a wider profile than the ZEUS or APOLLO.
The HERA , like the rest of the Phantom Corps line, will be a TARGET exclusive and it is now said that it will sell for $60. Whether or not it will be produced in red and blue, and sold in other stores is  unknown?

NERF RIVAL HERA.

Moving on...News has been leaked that a new repaint version of the 2013 Elite RAYVEN CS-18 will be available as a Kohl's exclusive in the US, presumably this fall. This news comes to us via Nerfer and Youtuber Hartley Ju. Some of you may recall when Hartley got his hands on a TWINSHOCK (another Fall release) back at the beginning of the year.
The blaster will be renamed the RAYVENFIRE and feature the newer Elite blue on white style color scheme. It will come with one 10 dart clip/mag that is white on one side and clear on the other, and 25 regular elite darts. Other than that it appears the RAYVENFIRE is the same as the Elite RAYVEN CS-18. The RAYVEN has remained so popular with fans and been in such high demand that this exclusive re-release is sure to be a hot seller. Kohl's isn't known for their low prices on NERF products and when a RECON MK II is $49.99... Let's just say that I have a feeling the RAYVENFIRE isn't going to be cheap.

NERF Elite RAYVENFIRE.

Of course there will be plenty to choose from when the full Fall line hits shelves in a couple of weeks. Some products like the NEMESIS, REGULATOR and others are already out. It's probably not too early to think about what to ask Santa for Christmas?

Some of the other new NERF blasters hitting stores for Fall.

So remember to be nice and...

BLOG ON!

I realize I haven't been posting nearly as much as I have since I first started this blog, but NERFARIUM is still active. To my dedicated readers and followers, I apologize. I've been a bit pre-occupied with projects, non-NERF stuff, and of course the NERF or NOTHING! community , which has grown to Googles' second largest exclusively NERF community. Instead of reviewing a blaster or talking about any upcoming new products, I thought it might be a good time to go over a couple of the things that I have been busy with.

PHANTOM CORPS

New RIVAL series

First of all,"Thanks" to Buffdaddy over at Blaster Hub for the original source of information about these up coming products. It seems that from DPCI product listings the PHANTOM CORPS is going to be a another TARGET exclusive.
The PHANTOM CORPS is a RIVAL sub-series of  white blasters verses the choice between red or blue that  RIVAL enthusiasts have had to make.  It's still up for speculation as to weather or not there will any special blasters released under this series, but I suspect it will only be repaints of RIVAL blasters we already have in new packaging?
So far we know of just 4 products from the list and can only guess based on that information and what we already know about RIVAL. The list reads as follows:
087-11-0992 : Phantom Corps Face Mask White Exclusive;
087-11-0993 : Phantom Corps Apollo XV-700 White Exclusive;
087-11-0994 : Phantom Corps Hera MXVII-1200 White Exclusive;
087-11-1019 : Nerf Phantom Corps Bandanna.

What the exclusive white face mask may look like?

My concept of the PHANTOM CORPS APOLLO
From this we know the color scheme is going to be white- no brainer there. We can also see the APOLLO and a blaster called the HERA MXVII-1200. Now some people are excited that this is a new blaster, but I'm afraid it's just a repaint of the ZEUS. We shall see? A new white mask will also be available, that I imagine will be very similar to the red and blue RIVAL masks.

Weather any  "gimmicks" or maybe a different color ammo will be part of this new series is also yet to be seen. No  pictures are available as of right now so I went ahead and took the liberty of "visualizing" what things may look like. No prices were listed and no release date is known at this time either but I'll update any new information as soon as possible.

Nerf Star Wars Cassian Andor Eadu Deluxe Blaster...

The Nerf Star Wars Captain Cassian Andor Eadu Deluxe Blaster... and why I don't quite actually have one.

This is the actual  Cassian Andor Eadu Deluxe Blaster. It's another STRYFE re-shell with a barrel attachment, stock, and scope we've seen before.

I haven't even seen one of these in real life, but I loved the looks of it at first sight, when a member of my Nerf community NERF or NOTHING first turned me on to it (Thnx Dave). This flywheel blaster fires glow-in-the-dark darts and features laser blast sound effects! This Star Wars themed Nerf blaster also features GlowStrike technology that creates glowing light effects and charges the darts to make them glow when fired. The blaster’s acceleration button powers up the motor for motorized action and unleashes 12 darts in a row with clip-fed blasting.
As much as I'd like to have one of these novelty Star Wars blasters I can't seem to find one for less than $80 US dollars, and that's just too much. So until I can find an economical solution, I've turned to what was already in my arsenal to see what I could put together. I still wouldn't mind picking one of theses blasters up on sale, but for now... I'll be satisfied with what I have.

I'm back with a NERF TERRASCOUT REVIEW

Sorry I haven't posted anything new in over a month. I took the month of February to celebrate my birthday and attend to some health matters and so my blog suffered a little... Well I'm back, so let's get right to the Nerf.
I was incredibly fortunate to receive a TERRASCOUT for my birthday so I just had to do a review of it for my next post! This remote controlled blaster drone is by far the priciest product NERF has ever released. The box  includes- drone, blaster, controller, 18 dart clip,18 darts, rechargeable NiMh battery,  charger, and instructions. The blaster must be attached to the drive section which is easy and requires no tools. The battery compartment will require the same phillips screw driver that most NERF blasters battery compartments  do.

Star Wars Rogue One Nerf Imperial Death Trooper Deluxe Blaster

The Star Wars Rogue One Nerf Imperial Death Trooper Deluxe Blaster hit stores in October of 2016 for about $35. It's a 3 shot, pump action springer with a smart AR system. It features trigger activated  Star Wars inspired light and sound effects. Also pump activated UV LED lights in the barrel that look cool and charge the glow- in the- dark- darts!
As cool as this blaster is, performance is lacking and I thought it was too expensive as did many NERFers...  but they say "good things come to those who wait" and I just found some on clearance for 9 bucks.
This movie promo blaster just got better!

NERF ELITE HYPERFIRE- REVIEW

"The HYPERFIRE just made the top of my wish list! I'll certainly be showing mine off the second I'm able to get my hands on one!"

Those were some of my closing words from my post way back last January about the (then) brand new ELITE HYPERFIRE. That post is currently the most popular on the  NERFARIUM read list.
Well tonight is the night! I waited a while- almost a year until I could catch a good deal, and I pounced on it! So this is it! At long last, the moment we've been waiting for... my HYPERFIRE REVEIW!

I actually bought it online Thanksgiving night and picked it up in-store a week later (busy with the holidays you know).
