HERE COMES HYPER

The big news in the NERF world is the official announcement of the new NERF HYPER line. So here's the basic on this all new NERF blasting system.

The HYPER series was leaked last March by an online retailer, but on Thursday (Feb.25) NERF officially announced details, product information, and released pictures. This new line features integrated hopper fed blasters that shoot round foam balls that are roughly 1/3 the size of RIVAL ammo. The new HYPER ammo is made from a new material that is firmer than the foam that RIVAL ammo is made from.  The HYPER blasters will shoot that ammo at 110 FPS. This should all add up to the fastest, hardest shooting stock NERF blasters ever!

While there is still no official  release date, the HYPER line will hit retailers this year (probably sooner than later). The series will launch with 3 blasters. Like the RIVAL series, the recommended age is 14 and up.

First up is the RUSH-40, a spring powered, slide-action primed pistol.

NERF HYPER RUSH-40

The RUSH-40 features a 40 round integrated hopper, with a flip-top loading port located near the rear of the blaster. It also has 4 tactical rails. One above the muzzle and one below it, and two on the hand guard. The RUSH-40 will sell for 30 bucks.

Next is the SIEGE-50, a 50 shot, pump-action primed blaster with Slam-fire.

NERF HYPER SIEGE-50

Other features include an integrated hopper (like all the HYPER blasters), a jamb door on the right side of the blaster, and 2 tactical rails. There is also a small iron sight at the end of the upper-front tactical rail, as well as two sling attachment points. One is  above the muzzle and the other beneath the grip. This one is going to set you back about 40 bucks.

Last but certainly not least, we have the HYPER MACH-100. This battery-operated, fully-automatic, flywheel blaster is biggest and most expensive of the bunch, with a pretty hefty price tag of 70 bucks.

NERF HYPER MACH-100

The MACH-100 features an integrated shoulder stock, as well as two tactical rails: one above the muzzle and one underneath the grip. Like all Hyper blasters, it has an integrated hopper with a loading port with a flip-up top. this blaster also features two tactical rails: one above the muzzle and one underneath the grip. There is a small iron sight at the end of the topmost rail as well. The blaster has two sling points. One is above the muzzle and the other, integrated into the shoulder stock.

There will be some HYPER accessories too! A 50 round refill canister will go for about 12 bucks and a 100 round canister will cost you about 20. There is talk of a pack of 200 rounds for under 30 bucks, coming soon...

50 and 100 round refill canisters.

There is also an official mask, but I don't have a price for it. I imagine it will go for 15 to 20 bucks. I'm sure we will soon here of a few more blasters as well...

NERF HYPER Face Mask.

I'm very curious to see where this new line goes... Will it fulfill the expectations of a higher performance, higher capacity, faster paced NERF experience? Or will it be a sad (cough,ULTRA,cough) disappoint?  If the MACH-100 holds 100 rounds, think of how many rounds a bigger or modified blaster could carry? I'm sure by the time summer rolls around, all our questions will be answered and the verdict will be in, on whether or not NERF HYPER is a success or not. What are your thoughts? Let me know what you think in the comments down below, and...
