NERF MODULUS MEGA DART BARREL EXTENSION
Released in 2016 under the MODULUS series, this barrel extension features a 4 MEGA dart launcher.
It originally came packaged with the MODULUS Tri-Strike blaster, and could not be purchased separately. These days you can find them used at a thrift store or online. I picked mine up on Ebay for 12 bucks.
Like other HAMP system blasters, such as the DEMOLISHER missile launcher, or the THUNDERBLAST, range and power of the projectile may vary based on how fast the user pumps the blaster. In addition, the smart AR system doesn't make things better, and unfortunately performance can be less than stellar. A good shot will fly out of the barrel at an average of about 40 to 45 FPS, and maximum ranges will go 25 to35 feet at best.
There are a couple of things you can do to increase performance. The first thing you can do is the easiest... use different darts. Using non NERF brand MEGA darts will make a big difference in overall performance. I recommend the NFstrike MEGA Accustrike dart. NFstrike's MEGA dart is simply better and more economical than the NERF brand MEGA dart.

Switching to a different dart will not only improve range, but also functionality.
Whatever ammo you use, it is important to be sure to load the darts completely into the barrels of the MEGA DART BARREL EXTENSION. If the dart aren't seated firmly on the air restrictors, they may not fire properly or at all.

Another way to improve performance is by replacing the plunger O-ring, or bedding it with electrical or Teflon tape. Of course you'll need to open up the MODULUS MEGA DART BARREL, and making this modification may make it harder to manually pump the blaster after the seal is increased, and may also cause the pump to get stuck occasionally, especially when the blaster is not used for a while.
The MEGA DART BARREL EXTENSION fits on any NERF blaster with an N-Strike/Elite barrel attachment point on the muzzle. Essentially it is a snap-on "Masterkey". If you are unfamiliar, a Masterkey integration is when a smaller blaster is connected to a bigger blaster, underneath the barrel. It takes its name from the real-life KAC Masterkey shotgun system, which consists of a pump-action shotgun mounted to the underbarrel of a rifle such as an M-16.
