Welcome to ZOMBIE STRIKE LAND pt 2

Part 2 of my special Zombie Strike series

Continuing on our journey through the world of  my undead themed NERF blasters ... did you know the  original pre-production name of the Zombie Strike series was Zombie Hunter? The NERF Zombie Strike line was officially launched on August 4,  2013.

The Zombie Strike logo appears on all Zombie Strike products.

The next blaster on the list was also released  in 2013 and was called the Zombie  Hunter BOOMER NOVA in pre-production. The BOOMER NOVA is very close to the production SLEDGEFIRE, however it has a different shoulder stock. This shoulder stock is seen with only two shells, and the shells have a different square look.

The final production version, the NERF Zombie Strike SLEDGEFIRE became an instant classic. The SLEDGEFIRE takes the Barrel Break IX-2's breech loading tec and improves the size of the volley with a massive plunger tube that shoots 3 darts, simultaneously, from a single shell, making it a true shotgun.
The SLEDGEFIRE features a single tactical rail on the top of the blaster, as well as an integrated shoulder stock that stores three shells. It has two sling attachment points, one above the muzzle and one on the bottom of the shoulder stock.

Some popular modifications to the SLEDGEFIRE include removing the stock. If done correctly, it is entirely possible to make the stock removable and attachable via friction. Another popular mod is to replace the shells with single-fire shells that fire 1 dart a further distance. Not to mention the K26 spring upgrade that is widely available.

After market single shot shells can be found on eBay and Etsy.

Unfortunately the SLEDGEFIRE is no longer available in stores and the popularity of the blaster makes it both a little rare and expensive.

In my opinion, this next blaster doesn't get nearly the respect it deserves. I'm talking about the DOOMINATOR. The DOOMINATOR is a revolver-style blaster that was released in fall of 2015 and features four six-dart cylinders.

It is primed by pulling the handle back then pushing it forward. The handle can be removed and placed on either the right or left side as well as the bottom.

Pump handle is threaded and removable, it can be used on the left or right side as well as the bottom.

The DOOMINATOR is "Slam fire" capable however a common complaint among some Nerfers is poor or rough operation... Another common complaint about the DOOMINATOR is the ergonomics, especially the shoulder stock. Unfortunately, although it looks great, the stock is too short to effectively hold the blaster against your shoulder and use it effectively or comfortably.

I find that the capacity and overall tacti-coolness out way the short comings and it is easy enough to handle if you're not a tiny kid. I actually picked this blaster up in 2015 and you can see that review here Return of the Nerf of the Living Dead .

Next I give you the SlingFire... again. I first wrote about this blaster back in January 2015 when I originally got mine.

You can read that post here The SlingFire... (I just restored the pictures).
The SlingFire was the first clip system Zombie Strike blaster, perhaps making it an instant classic. It is still available on store shelves for around 25 bucks. The SlingFire is a lever action primed blaster and due to this design, you can single-handedly operate it. With a little practice you can do all kinds of nifty tricks with it.
The SlingFire  features one tactical rail on its top and three sling points. Also, unlike most blasters, the SlingFire's trigger is in the shape of a real blade trigger, likely because of the lever-action priming mechanism. High capacity, fast reloading, and good performance make the SlingFire a favorite of mine and many, many other NERFerS!

I realize that Halloween is over and it's time to get ready for Christmas, but I just didn't get enough... I'm still in a Halloween frame of mind. I still have more Zombie Strike blasters in my collection. I even added to my Zombie Strike arsenal just today!
                                       to be continued...
