THE POST BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Happy Holidays

Seasons Greetings everybody! The Holidays are upon us and I just wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas  where ever you are and how ever you are celebrating!  For me it is Christmas Eve, and right on cue it is just now starting to snow! Yesterday it was sunny and 61F but it looks like snow on the ground for the morning.
Three nights ago I saw ( and touched) my first real- life Rhino Fire and last night while doing a little frantic last minute shopping I saw a whole pallet full of them. The R Fs I saw last night were marked down again to $69.97... I wonder if there will be one under my tree tomorrow morning?
The Rhino Fire isn't the only thing on my wish list but it sure is near the top.

Are you hoping for a new blaster this year? Were you naughty or nice? Please leave a comment and let us know if you had yourself a Nerfy little Christmas and what you got.   -Merry Christmas!

Ho Ho Ho, I'm just kidding Santa.

... JOY, PEACE, LOVE & NERF to ALL.                              NERF ON NERFerS!!!

SALES SET SAIL or BYE-BYE BARGAINS

                                        Attention  Shoppers  NERFerS:

NERF CAM ECS-12 (I think $80 is too much)
Wal-Marts exclusive RHINO FIRE

If you were planning on picking up either the  RHINO FIRE or the CAM ECS-12 on sale at Wal-Mart I have some bad news for you. It appears the big sale on both blasters is over. As you may have heard the retail giant was selling the Rhino Fire for $69.97 and the CAM ECS-12 for $63.99 (USD).  Well it seems that the sale is over and the prices are back up to $89.97 and $79.96 respectively. I found a bunch of both blasters on eBay that were still in the box and not exactly cheap, so you can bet a bunch of those were bought on sale...
On the bright side there are a couple of ways to look at this; Maybe you'll be getting one for Christmas next week?  Most likely they will go on sale again sometime after Christmas. If you are really patient the regular price will eventually drop such as the case was with the VULCAN and STAMPEDE, both selling for a lot less than their initial release prices for example.
Now I know this isn't very exciting news and it certainly isn't what you might call good news but it is Nerf news so I thought I should pass it along.  Hopefully I'll have something better for you next time.

DART ZONE COVERT OPS SCORPION

I picked up this little Gatling blaster earlier this year but left it in that NIB condition for a while. Recently I unboxed and test fired it a few times but never did much more with it. Now I'm taking a look at my Scorpion with some new thoughts ...

DEMOLISHER TIME

Back in September I told you about a trip to Wal-mart where I picked up a Buzz Bee Extreme Blastzooka for less than a third of the price of a Nerf Demolisher 2 in 1. I've wanted a Demolisher since they first hit the Nerf seen earlier this year, but the nearly $40 price tag just seemed a little too much. I knew if I waited a while the price would come down and now my friends that time has come!
I picked up my own DEMOLISER at that same Wal-mart on sale for $29.88 .  They seem to be on sale everywhere so now might be a good time to get one.

My New DEMOLISHER 2 IN 1
Wal-mart   $29.88  reg price $38.88
Target        $29.99  reg price $39.99
Toys R Us $29.99  reg price $39.99
Kmart        $34.99  reg price $44.99
Kohls         $55.24  reg price $64.99
Costco       $30.00  2 clip, 20 dart special pack as reported on reddit.com .

This blaster is even more fun than I thought it was going to be. I like it's a good hefty size. The missile launcher works better than I expected, and the dart range was superior to my Stryfe not to mention my Demolisher operates well with any clip unlike my Stryfe. Now that I have both I'm not saying that the Stryfe isn't a great blaster, but I am saying the Demolisher is more than just a re-shell of the Stryfe, as it has so often been  called.

18 dart clip, I think I will do a seal mod on the missile launcher.

25 dart DRUM MAG, I might also do a voltage mod?

Another bonus is that the Demolisher will fire the missiles from my Blastzooka (and visa versa). I have yet to do any real head- to- head testing, but it seems the Demolisher would have a higher ROF, not sure about range?
Demolisher and Blastzooka missiles are interchangeable.

As always there are a couple of things that I would have done different... 1. The color. It has a barrel extension mount on it, why orange? No barrel extensions match, same goes for stocks. I guess that's what paint is for.

the RETALIATOR barrel fit loosely...

 2. Another thing I would have liked to have seen on the Demolisher would have been a pump-up pressurized tank missile launching system like the Blastzooka or Titan! Lastly is the 2 in 1 part of the name. DEMOLUSHER is an awesome name for a blaster, but the "2 in 1" makes me think of a hair care product... "The Demolisher 2 in 1, conditions while it shampoos!" Ha ha.
Joking aside, I think this is a great blaster exceeding both its reputation and my expectations. I even like the 10 round banana clip just for the cosmetic value.

Banana clip gives other blasters a tacti-cool advantage.
Now that it is available at around $30 I think the Demolisher is well worth having. I'm pleased with mine and even happier that I got it at a reasonable price. Maybe now is the time for you to pick one up too!

Zombie Strike CLEAR SHOT for Halloween

Last week was Halloween and the candy was dandy but the best treat I got was a new Zombie Strike CLEAR SHOT

My Halloween Zombie Strike Clear Shot still in the box.
.  The Clear Shot is different from the rest of  Zed Squad blasters in several ways: To start it is a Target exclusive; It is also the only one to come with a scope accessory (pretty cool); It has a smooth design with no "cloth-wrap" handle and is orange and grey lacking any brown or green as almost all Zombie Strike blasters have.
The CLEAR SHOT is 11" by7" not including the scope, that not as cool-look'n little JOLT is more accurate and gets better ranges.

The reason for the simple orange and grey color scheme is most likely because the CLEAR SHOT is a simple repaint of the 2009 Dart Tag STORM FIRE. Except for the scope, some ZOMBIE STRIKE markings and the color change there has been no mechanical upgrades to the original '09 design so by todays Elite performance standards it falls short only getting an average 30' range or so.
I think because of this the CLEAR SHOT has a little bit of a bad reputation.
I'll admit this blaster lacks power but I like the larger size and overall look and design of it. I also like the scope a lot itself, it goes great with other blasters.
I like the way the scope looks on some of the other Z-Strike blasters like my Hammer Shot
I should also note that along with that cool scope the blaster comes with 2 syringe style and 2 plain marked Z-Strike darts. I'm happy to add this blaster to my Zombie Strike Arsenal. Trick-or-Treat, hope you had a Happy Halloween too.

The Rhinos Are Coming

Are you ready to dominate any battlefield with the double-barrel assault of the Rhino-Fire blaster? Are you sure you're ready... really, really  ready? Well those Elite Rhino-Fires are getting closer to hitting the shelves at Walmart. Their  web site  now has them up and listed for $89.97 (pleasantly about ten bucks less than I was expecting) and available for preorder now. I think it's a little funny that it also says "Preorder this item today and it should ship on 11/15/2014." I wonder why they say "should"?
While I'm quoting websites, Amazon.es  (Spain)   still says "Este producto saldrá a la venta el 1 de noviembre de 2014" or This product will be released on November 1, 2014.  I was also curious about other international releases and availability, since Walmart operates  under 71 banners in 27 countries. I'll pass along any info I get about that.

Rhino-Fire Presale and Release Date

If you haven't heard anything about the RHINO-FIRE ... how come?  A look at Amazon.es (Spain) now shows a release date of November 1st and  pre-order is available. They will want to sell as many as possible by Christmas so I wonder when we will actually see it in stores? I'm get'n so excited!

Have'n a Blast

My local Wal-mart finally got some blasters in-stock including the Demolisher 2-in-1. I've been wanting a missile  launching blaster for a while. They also had the  Buzz Bee Extreme BLASTZOOKA for less than a third of the price of a Demolisher, so I picked up one of these foam missile launchers and was pleasantly surprised.
My new Blastzooka!
This 21" (53.34cm) long, shoulder fired,  pump-up, air tank powered blaster seems to fire it's (2) stock 6 inch(152mm) long, 4.5g missiles close to the claimed 50' (15.2m) range plus some if you angle it a little. Seems about 6 or 7 pumps gets max air pressure.
Missile compared to elite dart.

I had heard that these blasters weren't too popular and were "ugly", but mine is gray not blue as pictured on the box it came in and I think it looks ok and come on... it's a bazooka!
Buzz Bee Boy with blue Blastzooka.
Here are a couple more views of mine to give you a better idea of it's size and how it looks.

About 24in.(61cm) long loaded.
This one is a definite candidate for modding, I'm sure someone has at least done a dart conversion. I might like just a little more power/ distance out of it but I have got to say it's not bad out of the box, especially for indoor use. I'd say this blaster is very FUN-ctional, especially considering it costs about the same as a Fire-Strike and it fires missiles.

Rhino Feuer Nicht verfügbar- How's your German?

The Nerf Elite RHINO-FIRE spotted on German website

There are some new pics out of Germany from bankcroft.de of the much anticipated Nerf Elite XD RHINO-FIRE. Their webpage reminds me of a Wal-Mart or Target or what-have you. Just to the right of the pic is the description box. In the box are currently some red letters that say Nicht verfugbar, which is German for Not available. So for now here are those images for you to enjoy while you wish you had one. It's real, it's coming soon, and it's still going to cost A Hundred Bucks, so there's still a little more time to save up!
Step 1. Smile and load darts in drums.

Step 2.  Load the drums...well you know the rest!

It looks about as long as a Vulcan but a lot wider, seems like maybe he could use a blast shield?

This does not look comfortable at all.

The Story of The Search for The Spectre

If you have seen the pictures or post of my Elite arsenal then you know that although there are 12 different types of blasters and a couple of duplicates the collection was missing a SPECTRE REV-5, so I decided it was time to get one. There was just one problem, when I went to my neighborhood Wal-Mart to pick up one of their exclusive blasters they were out.

Elite SPECTRE REV-5, a Wal-Mart exclusive.

THE PUNISHER

As excited as I am about the up-coming release of the Nerf RHINO-FIRE, the name just doesn't do anything for me. A cool blaster has got to have a cool name that makes a statement! So with that in mind I thought I'd show you my PUNISHER. Punisher... now that's a name for a blaster that means business!
PUNISHER on tri-pod (tri-pod not included).

I picked this up at Toys R Us  about 4 or 5 years ago, on sale for about $25. The Punisher like the Nerf Vulcan is big and heavy, belt fed, fully automatic, and takes 6 "D" batteries. It operates on a fly-wheel firing system and features a motorized spinning turret. If you are not familiar with this blaster or just want to see the commercial here is a link that will give you all the basic info Air Zone Punisher .
opened up for loading

Obviously the PUNISER was made to compete directly with the VULCAN -EBF25. Although I haven't done an official side-by side comparison, (what a good idea for an upcoming post) I have to say that the Punisher seems to get better, more consistent ranges, and shoots 5 more rounds than the stock 25 dart Vulcan belt.
VULCAN & PUNISHER side by side
(L)stock PUNISHER dart  (R)Air Warriors Extreme darts work even better, adding to range.

So is the PUNISHER a practical blaster? Would you bring it to a NIC war? Probably not, but as far as being FUN-ctional and tacti-COOL the PUNISHER is hard to beat!

I'LL BE BACK.
I'll be back,  but until then...

Zombies... again?

I was looking at the Target web page and saw that they are taking pre-orders for the new LONGSHOT. Officially called the  Nerf Zombie Strike ZED Squad Longshot CS-12 Blaster

The price is $34.99 which isn't quite as much as I thought it was going to be, and a release date of 8-3-14.  Didn't see any signs of the Slingfire yet.  I might have to go down to Target and actually see what's lurking in the aisles.

Here's the link if you want to check it out for yourself . http://www.target.com/p/nerf-zombie-strike-zed-squad-longshot-cs-12-blaster/-/A-15268007#prodSlot=medium_1_2&term=nerf+zombie+strike

The Really Big News Today... Really.

Today the Nerfing community, if not the entire world, is all- a- buzz about the sighting/confirmation of "the real" RHINO-FIRE. Many other sites have already posted a ton of speculation and as much (or little) info about this new "Ultimate Holiday Blaster" as is known, so I'm just going to re-cap a little and show you those beautiful pictures again.
NERF RHINO-FIRE

I'd be smiling too.
The RHINO-FIRE is a double barreled, twin 25 round drum mag, fully automatic beast. It comes with a detachable tri-pod, takes 6 "D" cell batteries, claims ranges of up to 90 feet,  and should cost about $100 (US). I also read that it will be a Wal-Mart exclusive.
box art.
I'm sure new info will be pouring out over the next few days/weeks and we'll be seeing somebody with one very soon. I'd like to see me with one very soon. What do you think? Is the RHINO-FIRE worth 100 bucks? Will it make up for some previous disappointments? Is it on your wish list this year?

Nerf of the Living Dead

Who doesn't love Nerf and who doesn't love zombies? So how could anybody not like Zombie Strike Blasters?
I have three of the series so far, and I like 'em just fine.  So here's a quick breakdown and some pix of my Z-Strike gear.
Given to me as gifts by a very special friend

First is the SLEDGEFIRE. This monster fires 3 darts at once from a shell loaded into the break-open breech (similar to a Barrel Break IX-2 or Buzz Bee Double Shot). A bandolier with extra shells would make a great addition to this blaster.
My SLEDGEFIRE

open breech and 3 dart shells
Next is the HAMMERSHOT. About the size and shape of a MAVERICK or STRONGARM, this revolver only holds five darts not six. But the hammer-priming action and large, comfortable handle make it easy to dual-wield or use one handed. A great sidearm and back-up!
hammer is in primed position.

blaster can be primed with just a thumb.

Finally is the newest of my Zombie Strike, the CROSSFIRE BOW. What can I say about this one...it's a crossbow.  A four shot crossbow that primes like a NITEFINDER and works in a similar way as the ROUGHCUT. It's a cool blaster but I find the reliability of those follow up shots to be an issue and you need to be sure your darts are firmly loaded or you get weak/bad shots. The CROSSFIRE will also accept any of the standard Nerf stocks although without paint nothing really matches. I'm sure some of you Daryl Dixon types will mod this right.
I think my CROSSFIRE looks cool.

Nerf  brags about "the power" but without some modification I don't know about that?

If you haven't heard, they say that they are also bringing the LONGSHOT back as a Z-Strike blaster, and the SLINGFIRE is available at Amazon and should be hitting stores soon. Night of the Living Dead came out in 1968 and was the greatest zombie movie ever made. The Walking Dead season 5 starts in October. What ever you do, don't get bit and NERF ON NERFerS!
