Zombified Long Shot

ZOMBIE STRIKE ZED SQUAD LONGSHOT CS-12

Greetings NERFerS,
Here is another new blaster I got as a gift this month. It's the Zombie Strike LONGSHOT CS-12. It is a recolored  make over of the legendary N-Strike blaster with a 12 dart clip, the bipod legs pulled off, and no front gun or any other barrel extension, and no upgraded Elite performance.
My original LONGSHOT and my new ZS version.

The  new orange and grey recolored scope looks good with yellow N-Strike blasters.
I have an original yellow LONGSHOT CS-6 that is in excellent condition. If you put a 12 dart clip in it they are the same blaster except the yellow one has bipod legs snapped on and has that infamous front gun which you can use or not.

Even though I  had the LS CS-6 I've wanted a new Zed Squad version to modify. My original LONGSTRIKE has never been opened, never been outdoors, and doesn't have a scratch on it, but things are going to be different with this blaster.
I intend to mod this one in to a zombie slaying monster. I can think of no better way to pay homage to this battle tested classic.

I have plans  to make this zombie blaster a little something special.

I think this re-released blaster should have come with something new and special instead of the stripped down repainted version we got that really does not match the rest of the series. A simple thing like a brown handle would have tied it in better.

I also got this pack of 30 ZOMBIE STRIKE darts to put in to the 25 round drum I put on  and I swapped scopes. I'm going to remove the AR and make seal improvements, maybe replace the spring?  What would you do? Add green and brown paint? Lights and lasers? Perhaps add one of those little ZS chain saws to where the bipod legs go? There is so much potential with a LONGSHOT. Maybe you'll be hearing about this one again in the future?

BLAZIN' BOW BIRTHDAY

February sure has been a busy month.  There was Super Sunday and Groundhog Day and Valentines Day,  Presidents Day and Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year, and more... including my Birthday. So I have a few new blasters including my N-Strike BLAZIN' BOW.
My new BLAZIN' BOW.
Size comparison with Fire Strike and Elite dart.
The BLAZIN' BOW has been out since 2013 and was said to be the last of the legendary N-Strike series. This however is not the case as new N-Strike blasters like the Double Down and Sharp Fire are being released.  Back when this bow first came out most reviews were not very good and with all the Elite blasters that were coming out I overlooked it. Now that I have one I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised.

The BLAZIN' BOW is black and orange with a big bold flame design on the side so it doesn't really match anything. Even so I think it's a good looking blaster. It comes with 3 foam arrows (projectiles) each about 8.76 inches (22.25cm) long and weighing about 5g . There is no trigger and the arrows are fired by simply pulling back the handle and releasing it. Ranges are not impressive at about 25ft(7.6m)  flat and 40ft(12m) angled if your lucky. However I was pleased with the accuracy and ranges can be improved with modifications which are not difficult to do on this direct plunger blaster.

3 arrows are included, they remind me more of missiles than arrows.
arrow holders on each side, sight in the center.

Other features of this blaster include 2 arrow holders located on either side of the upper bow arm as well as a look-through sight in between. The lower arm incorporates a very comfortable hand grip. Overall I find it a fairly comfortable  blaster to use and despite being underpowered I think the   BLAZIN' BOW is a lot of fun and a great addition to any Nerf armory. I have also noticed that like many of the older  blasters this one is starting to become hard to find on store shelves so if you are interested in getting one, now might be the time.

I'll have a couple more new blaster to show you very soon so stay tuned for those and until then...

ZOMBIE STRIKE RICOCHET

It's zombie season again and I bagged one in the clearance aisle, plus the latest addition to the armory is the first Vortex.

It's true I'm a fan of  the Zombie Strike series and other zombie related series.
I just got a  new RICOCHET and the new season of The Walking Dead has just started. Read more and I'll talk a little bit about the blaster.

PRECISION TARGET SET

... the funny thing is it didn't come from Target.

My neighborhood Walmart has had a bunch of these N-Strike Elite Precision Target Sets since before Christmas... so they recently marked them down to $9.97 and so I picked one up. I checked and the current Walmart online price is $12.99, same at Toys R Us and Kmart and ironically I did not see them at Target at all.
This is my target set, the target is a blue variant.
This set includes 1 (orange version) FIRESTRIK blaster; 10 (old style) suction tip darts, five orange tip and five blue tip, visa versa with the foam color;  1 target approx.  10 1/4" (26cm)  round; and two attachable feet/stands. I've seen the target in three slightly different color variations but that is only the plastic feet and outer rim. The cardboard face of the target itself  seems to always be the same. It says on the box that you can either stand it up or hang it on a door. I wonder what would happen if you hung it on the wall?

This target set is actually a pretty fun basic 1 or 2 person dart board style game. It would be a great choice as an intro nerf gift, office accessory, etc.,  especially considering it cost the same as a plain FIRESTRIKE. Remember that although you get 10 darts in this set they are not elite darts and won't work in any clip fed blasters. I did see that Kmart offers a bundle deal that includes a pack of 12 elite darts if you are interested, but that goes foe $17.98. I recommend you keep an eye open for that deal at Walmart (or other stores) since the price is what you would pay for a basic FIRESTRIKE anyway.
