Welcome to ZOMBIE STRIKE LAND pt 1

Part  1 of my special Zombie Strike series...

It's almost time for one of my favorite holidays, Halloween. So I thought that this would be a good time to talk about some of my favorite Zombie Strike blasters. I have always been a big fan of the whole zombie/ horror genre and when Nerf decided to cash in  on the zombie craze I was thrilled!
In this series I'm going to show you blasters from my Zombie Strike collection and stuff...
The Zombie Strike line was released on August 4, 2013. The Zombie Strike line is basically a "theme" based on the zombie apocalypse genre of films, video games, and television series. A number of blasters have a "homemade, DIY" theme to them, featuring power and handtools built into their designs. Many of the have a "cloth" wrapped look molded into the handle.
I'm going to start things off with the FLIPFURY because it was officially announced by Nerf on Halloween- October 31, 2014.  The blaster was released in the spring of 2015.
This is an official description from Hasbro that sums it up pretty well... "When you're the only thing that stands between humanity and a horde of zombies, you can't afford to waste time reloading. With twin rotating drums that hold 6 Zombie Strike darts each, the Nerf Zombie Strike FLIPFURY blaster lets you fire 12 darts before reloading. After you unleash 6 darts from the top drum, pull the secondary trigger to flip drums and keep blasting. Stop the undead in their tracks and make sure no zombie gets past you!"

I think the FLIPFURY is a great blaster. It comes out of the box with Elite performance. Although not advertised the FLIPFURY does have "Slam Fire". It is very ergonomic overall, with a good sized grip. It's easy to load and re-load, even on the fly. A 12-dart capacity is not bad either.

Maybe best of all is its gimmick... the flip trigger. Not only does it flip/exchange the positions of the two 6-dart cylinders, but it does it well. The priming slide and firing trigger work equally well.

The FLIPFURY  was most likely inspired by an old MAVERICK REV-6 mod from back in the day... Hasbro designed a nice version that performs well.

I think the FLIPFURY actually makes a pretty decent primary blaster. It is even possible to dual-wield it using a strap or cord on the two rear sling attachment points...
My next blaster also makes a pretty decent primary weapon..
Released a few months earlier than the FLIPFURY, the ZOMBIE STRIKE  Z.E.D. Squad LONGSHOT  CS-12 came out in the fall a 2014. It was a repainted version of the classic N-STRIKE LONGSHOT CS-6, missing the front gun attachment and the legs for the bipod. This newer version comes with 12 darts, a 12-dart  clip, and a scope.

ZOMBIE STRIKE  ZED Squad LONGSHOT  CS-12, the first blaster in the Z.E.D. Squad sub-series.

It still has a barrel attachment point and can be used with most any N-Strike or N-Strike Elite barrel extension. Orange Mod Works sells parts and has a video to mod the LONGSHOT to shoot an amazing 250+ FPS! Although discontinued, the LONGSHOT CS-12 can still be found for sale.
This next blaster is another from the Z.E.D. Sqaud sub-series... the CLEARSHOT.
The CLEARSHOT was released in the fall of 2014, and is a repaint of the 2009 NERF Dart Tag STORMFIRE. It is a single-shot springer that features 4 extra dirt holders, one directly under the muzzle, two more directly beneath that, and one in the bottom of the handle.

The blaster also comes with a repainted version of the Shot Blast Super Soaker scope that looks pretty nice on other blasters,  but overall I'm afraid the CLEARSHOT performs at less than Elite standards.

The CLEARSHOTs name doesn't appear anywhere on the blaster.
I might have passed on my CLEARSHOT had I not found it on clearance for 5 bucks. These days the CLEARSHOT is discontinued and a little hard to find. I'm glad to have one in my collection.

                                          to be continued...
