Oh SNAPFIRE!

I've heard and read all the negativity about the SNAFIRE along with its 2015 released  N-STRIKE  brethren the SHARPSHOT and the DOUBLEDOWN. How they are basically restyled in-line  JOLTs and perform as such.  I got hold of a DOUBLEDOWN and I was pleased with it just the same (Read more about that... ), so when I found this SNAPFIRE at the same store for $5  I got it and guess what... I like this one too!

 Actually I really like this one! Once again we have a single shot pistol, with the guts of a JOLT, but size and shape- ergonomics are what make this blaster a great sidearm. The SNAPFIRE is roughly the same size and shape of any number of smaller semi-automatic handguns such as a Walther or Beretta.

One of the most "gun" looking blasters Nerf has made.

The grip is "skeletal" looking like a frame of an actual pistol with the grips removed. I think it would be pretty easy to make some wood, plastic, or rubberized "Pachmayr- ish" grips for it. I think the size, balance and  overall feel of this blaster is excellent. It might be worth the effort try to get just a little extra power out of it.
The whole blaster is orange except for a little silver/grey on the side where the NERF logo is. I wonder if this was at all because of the side profile? It has storage for the 2 darts that it comes with under the barrel. Dart storage is perpendicular to the barrel like the DOUBLEDOWN, making the darts stick too far out the sides.

I don't care for the "sideways" dart storage.

It's true you will get better range from a STRIKEFIRE, and a JOLT is smaller and just as powerful but I find the grip a bit too small for comfort. The SNAPFIRE grip is just right.

You probably wouldn't want to head off to battle with just the SNAPFIRE or any of the other 2015 non-elite N-STRIKE blasters, and I'm sure no one is going to mod one and get any 100 foot ranges out one either. But for low key indoor or office wars these blasters are great and I still think that the SNAPFIRE is going to quickly become one of my favorite Nerf pistols and I recommend it.
