"The HYPERFIRE just made the top of my wish list! I'll certainly be showing mine off the second I'm able to get my hands on one!"
Those were some of my closing words from my post way back last January about the (then) brand new ELITE HYPERFIRE. That post is currently the most popular on the NERFARIUM read list.Well tonight is the night! I waited a while- almost a year until I could catch a good deal, and I pounced on it! So this is it! At long last, the moment we've been waiting for... my HYPERFIRE REVEIW!
I actually bought it online Thanksgiving night and picked it up in-store a week later (busy with the holidays you know).
Not only is it the HYPERFIRE I've been waiting so long to add to my collection but it's a bonus release with two 25 round drum mags and 50 darts. All this for $30. I found this deal online from Walmart, when I looked the very next day the sale was over and the product was out of stock... 'tis the season.
I'll start by saying I love it but I'm glad I didn't shell out 50 bucks, especially if I only got 1 drum. I did this same sort of thing when the RAPIDSTRIKE came out and ended up with a good price and extra clips and darts too. Oh yeah, don't forget you're going to have to buy 4 D-cell batteries for your new blaster too!
Now let's address some of the most common issues related to this blaster both Pro and Con-
We already addressed the price...it's coming down so don't pay $49.99 (sorry if you already did).
Despite all the pure hatred I've heard about the ranges, power. and jamming, I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I was going to be. Shooting 1 to 3 darts at a time was getting 55 to 65 feet easy, while holding the trigger down 'till she ran dry was still averaging 35 to 45 feet per dart. That 25 dart drum was empty in about 5 seconds too!
As for style and ergonomics, the HYPERFIRE had some mixed reviews. I personally like it. I find the handle comfortable and I approve of the ultra modern design that isn't the same'ol, same 'ol. I also especially like the rev trigger which is a little bigger than on the RAPIDSTRIKE or STRYFE.
I do think it's a real shame that there is no barrel attachment point on this blaster. Not only would that have been tacti-COOL, but also allowed a way to adjust the balance a little. There is only one 3 1/2 inch tactical rail atop the barrel which is also a little disappointing but sling attachment points are not a problem.
Next I must say to be unbiased, it did not work perfectly out of the box (with new batteries). The disappointing flaw in this otherwise very cool blaster is it's too fast.
The HYPERFIRE indeed shoots noticeably faster than a RAPIDSTRIKE, at almost 5 darts a second, but at full auto it doesn't take many darts to slow down those flywheels... It seems the best way to wield this blaster is to get the hang of firing it in "bursts". Maybe a voltage mod would help?
All-in-all I'm really happy with this blaster... I don't know what the critics were expecting but the HYPERFIRE is at least as good as I was expecting it to be if not better. Now that it can be found for a more affordable price, I say spend 30 bucks or so... look for the value pack if you can find it of course for that extra drum and darts...
I also have some additional 25 dart drums that I like to use with my HYPERFIRE. I can carry them in a pack and re-load quickly providing 125 rounds of full auto fire power! I think you should get one of these and...
NERF ON NERFerS!!!
