MEGALODON MEGA PACK REVIEW
MEGA MEGALODON MEGA Pack |
I didn't just get the MEGALODON, but the special Mega pack which includes 60 MEGA darts.
The MEGALODON hit store shelves around August/September of this year. It sells on average for about 40 bucks. It comes packaged with the Blaster itself, and instruction sheet, and usually 20 darts, however the mega pack comes with 60 darts... enough to reload the blaster three times.
60 darts included |
Once you have freed the blaster from its box, you need to attach the drum to the blaster. The drum simply snaps into place and once there it is not meant to be removed again... at least not in stock form.
Drum assembly |
Loading the darts is the same as with any revolver type blaster from the MAVERICK to the MASTODON, simply front load the darts into the drum by hand.
Loading darts |
The carry handle doubles as the priming handle. Pull back and push forward to advance the drum and prime the blaster. The MEGALODON also features Slamfire... hold the trigger down and crank that handle as fast as you can to rapidly fire 20 Mega darts.
I think the overall styling of the MEGALODON is superb. A compact and comfortable design that packs 20 Mega darts. The grip is large and comfortable but not so big that a kid can't use it. The carry/priming handle is a little bit more kid size but still comfortable enough for an adult hand. The MEGALODON has no tacti-cool rails but it does have three sling attachment points. There are also a front and rear fixed site.
MEGA MEGALODON |
Performance is surprisingly subpar compared to most spring-powered MEGA blasters. Darts averaged about 64 FPS, and effective range is about 50 feet at best. Accuracy is also a bit of an issue at any considerable distance, as is the case with most MEGA blasters.
Despite its slight lack of power the MEGALODON is excellent for close-quarter situations or if use MEGA blasters as special weapons such a shield buster or stun grenade.
MEGA MEGALODON compared with MEGA MASTODON |
I am a fan of the MEGA series and I like the MEGALODON. I think $40 is a little pricey for it but I expect that the price will drop now that Christmas is over.
As a matter of fact the year is over... as 2019 comes to an end, this will be my last post of the year. So I just want to say thanks for reading, keep reading as 2020 promises to be an even better year, and...
NERF on NERFerS!!!
