STEALTHFIRE SHIELD or as the box says...

Marvel Captain America The Winter Soldier Super Soldier Gear Stealth Fire Shield

I found a Captain America Stealth Fire Shield in the clearance aisle marked down to $15. I knew that this gimmick blaster got overall poor reviews and for only five bucks off the original price I decided to pass. Three days later the shield was still there but it had been marked down again to $9 so I picked it up.

I think it is important to remember that this is technically a Marvel Captain America Super Soldier Gear product from the makers of NERF aka Hasbro, not really a traditional NERF blaster. At only about 10"(25cm) in diameter it doesn't really make an effective shield either
size comparison with Strong Arm.
.

What this version of Cap's shield lacks in performance and range it makes up for with tacti-cool, clever, fun-ctionality.

At the rear of the shield is the handle which deploys the 4 barrels from the center of the sheild. Directly above that is a door that flips up to load the darts. Pulling the handle/trigger fires each of the 4 darts separately. A 5th pull of the trigger retracts the barrels.

As far as ranges go it says "Fires up to 20 feet!" on the box.
It says "Fires up to 20 feet!" I found an average of about 16 feet.

If you are lucky a 20 foot shot is the max you might get out of it. The Stealth Shield also comes with 4 red tip, blue foam streamline style darts that don't seem to be as sturdy as elite darts.
The handle size and adjustable arm strap are surprisingly big and adult friendly.

I like the idea of using shields in Nerf and the Stealth Fire is something a little novel and fun.You wouldn't want to use it in a battle. I don't think there is much modding potential either? It does make me think of what could have been or what could be ...? Perhaps this will be a great collectors item some day? I hope so because there is one in my collection now.
