NERF CROSSBOLT -

NOT QUITE WHAT I EXPECTED

Destiny has kept us apart, but last night I was finally brought together with a long anticipated NERF N-STRIKE ELITE CROSSBOLT. As fate would have it the price was better too :)

My CROSSBOLT

I opened the box and there it was...
Inside you get the usual- blaster, 12 darts & clip, instruction sheet.

Instruction sheet-but who ever uses that?

You will need to put both arms in place, this  may require
big kid strength but is pretty simple.

I thought the CROSSBOLT would operate and feel like a RETALIATOR but it is nothing like that. Both the priming handle and trigger pull of this blaster feel a little different than other Nerf blasters... maybe a little heavy and slow. Long draw on the trigger pull. No Slam Fire. This is no fast shooter for sure. the ergonomics of this blaster take a bit of getting used to as well. It is really to short to be shouldered but at the same time to big to be used as a pistol although the grip is a nice size and shape. I think a stock adaptor on the back end of this blaster (like on the ZS CROSSFIRBOW would have been a great idea.
No stock adapter on the CROSSBOLT

CROSSBOLT & CROSSFIRE

I find that I naturally tend to want to use the only tactical rail as a fore grip. It doesn't seem to be useful for anything else, maybe a light or laser? No top rail means no sight accessories. There are 2 jamb doors though... and speaking of the top side of the blaster, the priming handle is too far forward.  The bow arm and string are in the same space my arm wants to be when priming.

I want more to hold on to up front

Now let's not forget the features of this blaster that set it apart from most others.
THE COOL FACTOR-  The CROSSBOLT isn't Nerf's first crossbow but it is the first clip-system type. It is a bull-pup design and a N-Strike Elite, making it an absolute must have for any fan of the series.
RANGE & ACCURACY-  The CROSSBOLT hits impressive ranges, not 90 feet like it claims on the box... still I think it might out range most of the other stock Elite blasters. Darts play a huge part in the accuracy of any blaster but my CROSSBOLT also seemed to fire very accurate shots better than average, making some truly amazing "Nerf Perfect" shots at 40 to 50 feet.
CAPACITY-  This is a no-brainer. It's a Nerf CS blaster, it will take any CS clip or drum and reloading takes only seconds.
STEALTH-  The CROSSBOLT is full power yet compact. It is relatively quiet compared to a lot of springers not to mention flywheels.

Conclusion- I waited patiently for nearly 10 months to get this blaster. I consider it a must have for my collection but the wait was well worth it since the price dropped nearly in half. I advise you pay no more than $25 (USD). Not exactly what I was expecting and not the best thing Nerf has ever put out the CROSSBOLT is none the less a solid and novel N-Strike Elite blaster worthy of any Elite armory.
NERF ON NERFerS!!!
