My Review and Comparison of NFSTRIKE'S Whirlwind Head Mega Dart
Now... a few weeks ago (more like months now) my friends over at NFSTRIKE sent me some of their Whirlwind Head Soft Bullet for Nerf Mega Blaster Toy. That is the official name on the website for what most NERFers might simply call an ACCU-MEGA dart. I've even heard people call them ACCU-FAKE... (I call them "Whirlwind-MEGAS") ... however big corporations have a funny habit of copy-writing everything, and I'm sure Hasbro owns "MEGA Dart". Well, I'm going to review this off-brand/third party/after market/ whatever you want to call it dart, as well as compare it with the official NERF N-Strike Elite Mega Dart.

First thing, remember that thing about copy-writing... "AccuStrike" is the name NERF has for a Whirlwind Head dart. So basically what we have here is a Mega AccuStrike dart. Now let's take a look at them...
The darts come in nicely sealed plastic bags of 6, so naturally a box of 60 would contain 10 bags of 6 darts, etc...
Each dart is 9.5cm long by 1.9cm diameter and is made of red EPE (expanded polyethylene) for the body, and orange TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) for the head.
The total weight of each dart is just over 3g. The darts are well constructed, very straight, and uniform. The heads are securely attached to the body of the dart with no traces of excess adhesive.
Compared side by side to an actual NERF brand MEGA dart, they are nearly the exact size and weight. My measurements found the NERF MEGA dart to be very minutely longer, thinner, and lighter.

Of course the big difference between the two darts is the head. The Whirlwind head is designed like a NERF AccuStrike dart head. This should make for a more accurate MEGA dart, but the only way to be sure is to test them!
To test and compare the darts I'll use a few different stock blasters.

Next I tried the new darts out in a MAGUS. I wanted to be sure there where no problems loading and using these darts in the MAGNUS with it's 3 dart internal magazine. There where no isses, the darts loaded and fired fine, again with a straighter flight path than the NERF brand MEGA darts.

For the next test I decided to use the TWINSHOCK. This time our Whirlwind Head darts were just a little tight loading into the TWINSHOCK, but they certainly fit and the stiffer flat heads/tips made it easy to push down and really seat the darts well. This helps ensure each AR (air restrictor) is fully open and helps with less misfires. This snug fit was a plus for this blaster and probably any other smart AR MEGA blaster.
I also loved how the aftermarket darts stayed together/side-by-side when you double fired at rangesup to 40 or 50 feet, while the NERF MEGA darts often tended to stray apart as they travel down range.
The darts also worked excellent with both the ROTOFURY and CYCLONESHOCK turning both blasters into accurate, hard hitting, MEGA threats on the battlefield.
The "Acc-darts" were just a little tighter loading into the blaster cylinders than the NERF darts, but after your sure to seat them firmly in the blaster... there are no mis-fires due to closed ARs.
Again there was a 5ft. - 10ft. shortage in maximum range compared to a NERF MEGA dart, but this was only when a NERF brand dart would fly relatively straight downrange. I wanted to try these new darts on the outdoor range with the MASTODON Too... unfortunately it seems something is broken (maybe a loose wire) and I wasn't able to conduct that test. I'll try to post those results as soon as the blaster is repaired.
I got to say I love it when a NERF MEGA dart flies straight and whistles like incoming heavy artillery shells! However given a choice, I would trade the extra range and whistle noise,
cool as it is, of the NERF MEGA dart for the dead-on accuracy of the Whirlwind Head dart any-day!
As for value... an official NERF brand MEGA DART is going to cost an average of between 40 to 48 cents, depending on where you buy them and how many you buy.
In comparison, you can buy the Whirlwind Head Soft Bullet for Nerf Mega Blasters for as little as just under 17 cents a piece.
Also note that although I didn't include them in this review, an actual new NERF brand N-Strike Mega AccuStrike dart costs nearly 80 cents each... For almost the same money you can get either 10 NERF ACCUSTRIKE darts, or 60 NFSTRIKE Whirlwind Head darts.

My final conclusions about the Whirlwind Head Soft Bullet for Nerf Mega Blaster Toy... it is a superior alternative to the NERF MEGA dart. The slight difference in maximum range is a small sacrifice when compared with the gain in accuracy. It really doesn't matter if a dart travels 10 ft. more, if it won't stay on target, right? Plus the bargan value just can't be beat. To try them out for yourself, or to check out other cool products go to NFSTRIKE ⬅️(click)
Thanks to my friends at NFSTRIKE for the product samples and being so patient with me, and thanks to all my steady viewers for hang'n in there while I was gone. Until next time always remember to...
NERF ON NERFerS!!!
That bullet looks like an alpha-hawk bullet but bigger! I might have to get one and try it!
