 NEXUS PRO

My review of the Adventure Force Tactical Strike NEXUS PRO

It's the only new blaster I've added to my collection in about 2 years, and what a blaster it is!!!

Greetings Nerfers. I was thrilled to get one of these recently as a birthday present. There haven't been many new blasters lately that have particularly interested me. The Adventure Force tactical strike series NEXUS PRO was one of the few exceptions.

The NEXUS PRO is a pump-action,  clip fed, high-performance, springer, made by Prime Time Toys. It first hit the market in the summer of 2020. It is nicely packaged in an eye-catching flip-up box. The outside of the box features a picture of the blaster on the front,

...and another picture with all the accessories on the back.

Back of box

Lifting the box lid reveals another picture and the NEXUS itself. Included with the blaster are a 12-round standard length dart clip, a 12-round half-length darts clip, 12 standard length darts,  12 half-length darts,  a half-length dart clip adaptor,  an adjustable shoulder stock, 2 sights, a barrel tip extension, and an instruction sheet.

Inside box

The NEXUS is described as a high performance blaster designed for advanced dart battles with the ultimate speed, distance and accuracy. Firing darts over 125 feet, it is recommended for ages 14 and up.

Once liberated from its box and assembled, the"Wow" factor really kicked in.

The NEXUS is hefty and solidly built. The shell is made of thicker plastic compared to most other blasters. The two included sights aren't all that special, but they are also well made.  The sights slide onto two tactical/picatinny rails that run the length of the top of the blaster.

Detachable tactical sights

This is also where the jam release button is located just in front of the rear sight.

The adjustable shoulder stock is comfortable and sturdy, and does not easily collapse, like the NERF RAIDER stock. The stock also holds 2 spare O-rings for the piston arm.

Adjustable and detachable shoulder stock

Starting with the standard length darts, because that is what I'm more familiar with... they are basically the same size as an Elite dart. However the NEXUS darts are denser and heavier, and while the darts are interchangeable,  the Elite darts are ridiculously unstable when fired out of the NEXUS. Furthermore, the NEXUS will shoot just about any standard length dart,  with varying results.

As for the clip itself... it is heavy-duty compared to a NERF clip, but close enough in design to the NERF 12 dart clip that they are interchangeable.

Other, although not all, NERF magazines will work with the NEXUS PRO as well. Unfortunately the 18 dart NERF clip won't work because of a bump on the side that prevents it from fitting into the magazine well properly.  It's the same for the 10 dart banana clip, the 35 dart drum, and the 50 dart drum magazine.

Notice the "bump"on the left side, it prevents the clip from properly fitting in the blaster.

Both the 18 and 25 dart drums will work, if you need higher ammo capacity. The 6 dart clip also fits.

The clip can be inserted into, or removed from the blaster mag well without pulling the priming handle back by depressing the clip release. This only works with full length clips, when using the half-length dart adaptor the handle must be pulled back.

The safety lock protrudes on either side of the blaster, just in front of the trigger guard. The safety prevents the trigger from being pulled, and is also used to clear a jammed dart.

When you do prime the NEXUS, via the comfortable, pump-action grip, you'll notice a couple of inches of travel and then the resistance of the high performance spring.

Tactical grip/priming handle

When holding and aiming the blaster I found the ergonomics outstanding. The trigger pull is a little heavier than your average blaster.
Fully pulling the trigger of course fires a dart with a surprising "Pop/Thwap"!!! This blaster shoots like no other I have ever shot before!

Adventure Force Tactical Strike NEXUS PRO Ultimate Dart Blaster

The NEXUS fires the included PRO darts at approximately 140 feet per second, compared to about 70  fps from a good NERF Elite blaster. The half-length darts fly even faster and harder.
The NEXUS PRO is absolutely a high performance, competitive level, battle blaster. It is not meant to be used around the house for fun little family wars. Eye protection for everyone is a must. You're going to know when you're hit by this blaster and it's probably going to leave a mark. The ages 14+ recommendation and other warnings should be noted.
Now about those half-length darts...  The 12 half-length darts are loaded into the half-length clip (magazine if you prefer). The clip clicks into the adaptor which is inserted into the cavity/mag well. The adaptor has its own clip release. The adaptor also works with Worker Talon and Jet Katana magazines.

Half-length dart clip and adapter

As I mentioned, the half-length darts shoot even harder, farther, and faster. Dart velocity is 155+ fps and maximum range is over 125 feet, as advertised. Accuracy is much better than I'm used to with other blasters. This actually makes target shooting a little more interesting. However the NEXUS is not meant to go up against your average off-the-shelf NERF blaster.

NEXUS PRO and Elite ALPHA TROOPER

The type of NERF battle that I'm usually involved in has a range of players, from younger kids to senior citizens. The NEXUS is a little too much blaster to use against these kind of opponents, talk about an unfair advantage...
What the NEXUS PRO is, is a serious competition level blaster for about the same price as some of the NERF blasters. If that's what you're looking for, I highly recommend this blaster. If you're shopping for your 10 to 12 year old nephew, I'd pass on this one for a couple of years.
I'm really pleased to have this very impressive blaster
in my collection, but I don't think it will see as much action as my other blasters.
